(Ecns.cn)--An arched door painted in gold and two pieces of red carpets spruced up the temporary wooden plank house on the morning that 24-year-old Gao Hua and his girl friend Li Lin held their wedding ceremony here.

The venue was actually a rented former garbage recycling station where Gao's parents work in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province, reported the Shanxi Evening Post on Wednesday.

Though the wedding ceremony was quite simple and the surroundings a little rough, the scene was touching and glowed with the couples' obvious happiness. The bridegroom is a soldier who was posted to north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Gao and his bride Li have been in a relationship for four years.

In his term of service, Gao seldom had the chance to go home and stay for any length of time, but on his one-month vacation period, he decided to marry his girl friend. "The decision was made on the spur of the moment, but thanks to Li and her family, I finally could marry her," said Gao.

The couple planned to rent a house for the wedding, but since Gao had such a short spell in Taiyuan and neither family is wealthy, they finally settled on holding the ceremony in the converted garbage collection depot.

Gao's father commented, "The kids are very considerate and understanding." Jin Hai, who has been presiding over wedding ceremonies here for more than 10 years said, "This is the first time I've seen such a simple but touching wedding ceremony."

Over 20 years ago, Gao's parents left their hometown in Henan Province and came to live with a relative in Taiyuan. They rented this garbage depot five years ago and since then the family began to live here. "I am happy to hold our wedding ceremony here, because my parents live here and it is our home," said Gao.
