(Ecns.cn) – With an increasing number of pet lovers hoping to see their animal companions become obedient and docile, animal training schools have become very popular in China.

The Ruishan Pet Training School in north China's Shanxi Province is one of these accredited institutions, where instructors strive to achieve positive and consistent behavior from pets. Animals that pass all their exams are even awarded "household service certificates."

Mrs. Ma lives in Taiyuan, capital city of Shanxi Province. She says her dog has been coddled and spoiled since childhood because of her lack of knowledge about dog training. As a result, the dog became disobedient and aggressive – Ma was even afraid that it might bite someone.

But after she took the dog to the Ruishan Pet Training School and left it for a number of weeks, Ma was surprised to find that the dog had become disciplined, and no longer relieved itself indoors.

Tian Xin, a nationally-recognized pet trainer with years of experience, says many pet lovers don't know how to teach their dogs or cats. Nearly all behavioral problems are perfectly normal, natural and necessary activities that occur at the wrong time or place, or are directed at the wrong thing, he says, so the key to training a pet is to redirect its behavior to outlets that are acceptable in the domestic setting.

Though a pet's behavior is constantly changing, it can always be trained at any age, adds Tian.
