(Ecns.cn)--Apple's iPhone 4s was on sale this weekend in Beijing's grey market. However, its price dropped sharply just a day later, from over 10,000 yuan ($1,568) to about 8,900 yuan.

According to a retailer, only the 16-gigebyte version is available now, which "is in short supply. Most people bought it as a gift to others."

Some retailers suggest that consumers be patient for a little while, since the price is constantly fluctuating. They thought 6,000 yuan would be a reasonable price.

Apple released the iPhone 4S Friday in six countries across the globe. Hong Kong dealers, therefore, had to snag models from countries such as Japan and Australia.

The phones retailed between HK$10,000 and HK$12,000 the first day on the Hong Kong grey market. However, the prices had reportedly been reduced to HK$4,000 by the end of the day.
