(Ecns.cn)--Chen Guangbiao, a rich Chinese businessman and flamboyant philanthropist, is planning to provide a sumptuous feast on the eve of this Chinese New Year for 5,000 poor households in Xiadapa village, Guizhou Province.

"What a hard life you have been leading!" sighed Chen after finishing a meager meal in Xiadapa recently.

"This is the most bitter meal I've ever had in my life," he added. "I have made the right choice to continue my high profile-form of charity. There are so many poor families in need of help. I will hold the feast with great fanfare and call for more businessmen to get involved in charity."

Chen has since decided to also invite 1,000 poor households from impoverished rural areas in five provinces, including Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, Gansu and Xinjiang.

Following the meal, all the tables and chairs will be donated to the poor, with only one requirement: "The participants should sing a red song for the Communist Party of China in chorus," said Chen.

Xiadapa is located in a remote desert area in Guizhou, with each household making less than 1,000 yuan annually.

Chen is president of the Jiangsu-based Huangpu Renewable Resources Company, and has created a controversial approach to charity. Last month, he held a solo concert in Guizhou and donated 3,000 pigs and sheep along with 113 tractors to local families with financial difficulties.
