(Ecns.cn)--In the "other realm" of the primeval forest nearby the southwest county of Beichuan in Sichuan Province, a giant mushroom was recently discovered by a local villager, reported Chinanews.com on Friday.
The astonishing mushroom, weighing 22 kilograms, is half a meter tall with a diameter of 1 meter and looks like a jumbo flower.
"I have never seen such a wild mushroom in my life. It's too huge to be a mushroom," Wu Tianxing said. He found the mushroom last week while gathering pecans deep in the forest. Wu, 68, then rushed back to call for help to carry the heavy mushroom.
Out of curiosity, Wu later sent the mushroom to the Gardening Science Institute of the local Normal University for testing. "It's unbelievable to see such a big mushroom, but the preliminary test didn't tell if any medical values can be abstracted," said Li Mingyin, professor of Gardening Science.
