(ECNS) -- An order of 1,000 pieces of Vrum was placed to a farmer cooperative in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, on March 20.

The farmer cooperative, dedicated to making Vrum, delivered the order on schedule.

Vrum is a dried layer of milk fat condensed on the surface of fresh milk after being cooked on a slow fire. One and a half kilograms of fresh milk can be made into a piece of Vrum after 7-8 hours. It is favored by Kazakh, Uyghur, Mongolian, Xibo and other ethnic groups in China.

Vrum used to be fired by coal, but now coal is replaced by electricity, which is healthier and safer.

Making dairy products in a more convenient and environmentally friendly way has become an effective method for local people to increase income. In Qapqal Xibe Autonomous County, Vrum processing brings annual sales of 12.9 million yuan ($2.02 million) to over 200 families who work for the industry. E-commerce also helps drive sales.

Xinjiang is one of the main producing areas of high-quality milk in China. Animal husbandry is becoming the pillar of local poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.
