(ECNS) -- An immersive performance kicked off in Fuzhou's Sanfang Qixiang (Three Lanes and Seven Alleys) on Thursday night.

The performance aimed to present the city's culture and image to the world through the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee.

Sanfang Qixiang is located on the central axis of Fuzhou, a city with more than 2,200 years of history.

It is home to over 400 people who had significantly influenced the process of China's modernization, and also an epitome of Fuzhou's culture.

The 44th session of the World Heritage Committee will run from July 16 to 31.

Quanzhou -- China's Song and Yuan (960-1368) Maritime Trade Center-- will be reviewed at this committee.

China has 55 world heritages so far, ranking the first in the world with Italy.
