(ECNS)-- A group of auto-pilot taxis are being tested on designated roads in some parts of Beijing.

The cars stand out among other normal ones with sensors set on the top and around.

A screen was set on the back of the passenger seat to show the status and positions of the car.

A "safety assistant" sits on the driver's seat, who'll not operate the system during the process but help in case of emergencies.

"The car handles everything delicately, paying enough attention on whether the passenger feels comfortable. And it's not very slow. In all, it's a good experience," Ms. Ma, a passenger, commented on her first experience on an auto-pilot car.

The city opens road sections with a combined distance of 700km to these testing cars.

Passengers aged between 18 to 60 can book a free ride via certain apps till Nov. 6.
