(ECNS) -- The "Beiyou 25" cruise ship refloated at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday after being stranded for more than 10 hours at Weizhou Island, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

More than 700 passengers went safely ashore.

The Beiyou 25 was scheduled to sail from Beihai on Saturday to Weizhou Island.

It planned to dock at Xijiao Pier at 14:40.

But it veered off course and ran aground in a shallow sea area near the pier.

The ship was rescued at about 8 a.m. on Sunday morning with local government's efforts.

Passengers involved would have their tickets refunded, according to the company.

Some follow-up operations are being carried out.
