Two Japanese men were killed recently in Pulandian district of Dalian, Liaoning province, and the suspect, a Chinese man, has been detained, the Dalian public security bureau said on Tuesday.

According to the police bulletin, on May 23, local police received a report of a criminal case involving two deaths in Pulandian's Daliujia sub-district. The next day, the police apprehended the suspect, Yuan Mougong, a 42-year-old Chinese national who has long resided in Japan.

After days of investigation, the case details have been largely clarified. The two Japanese victims, who had entered the country temporarily, were business partners of Yuan during his stay in Japan. The case was triggered by contradictions in their business cooperation.

Yuan has been detained in accordance with the law.

After further investigation, the case will be transferred to the procuratorial organs for review and prosecution in accordance with the law, the police said.

According to the police, relevant local authorities have informed the victims' families. The families raised no objections. Relevant departments assisted them in handling the cremation of the victims' remains and other postmortem arrangements. The victims' families returned to Japan on Sunday.
