China and Brazil have agreed to advance the building of a community with a shared future between the two countries, uphold multilateralism, safeguard universally recognized international rules, and jointly defend the legitimate rights and interests of the Global South, contributing to world peace, stability, and development.

The consensuses were reached as Foreign Minister Wang Yi met on Monday with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Celso Amorim, special advisor to the president of Brazil, in Beijing.

During the talks, both sides reviewed the highly frequent exchanges between the two heads of state in recent years and made preparations for the upcoming important meeting between the two heads of state.

President Lula is paying a five-day state visit to China from Saturday. This marks his sixth visit to China and his second since 2023.

They also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis, expressing support for direct dialogue and negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides pledged to continue leveraging the role of the Group of Friends for Peace on the Ukraine crisis to gather broader international consensus for a political resolution to the crisis.
