China, Azerbaijan sign agreement on mutual visa exemption

China and Azerbaijan on Wednesday signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption for ordinary passport holders in both countries, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The agreement will take effect after the two governments implement necessary procedures, said an online statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. 

The move comes as China has been continuously expanding visa exemptions for a growing number of countries. Since December 2023, China has expanded unilateral visa-free access to travelers from 38 countries, allowing stays of up to 30 days, Xinhua reported on April 17.
