Xi attends dialogue between CPC, world political parties

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese president, attended the opening ceremony of the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting via video link and delivered a keynote address on Wednesday.

Ultimate goal of modernization falls on people's free, comprehensive development: Xi 

The ultimate goal of modernization is to realize people's free and comprehensive development, Xi said on Wednesday. 

He stressed that political parties should focus on people's aspirations for a better life and further progress of civilization, and strive to achieve material abundance, political integrity, cultural-ethical enrichment, social stability and pleasant living environments so that modernization will better address people's concerns and meet their diversified needs. >>>

Modernization not 'an exclusive patent' of a small handful of countries: Xi 

Xi said that modernization is not "an exclusive patent" of a small handful of countries, nor is it a single answer question. 

Modernization cannot be realized by a cookie cutter approach or simple "copy and paste," said Xi, also Chinese president, in his keynote address delivered at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting. >>>

Xi: Modernization comes from hard work with strong historical initiative

Xi  said that modernization is the result of hard work with the strong historical initiative.  Modernization does not fall into our lap automatically. >>> 

Xi calls for respect for diversity of civilizations

Xi called for respect for the diversity of civilizations on Wednesday. 

Countries need to uphold the principles of equality, mutual learning, dialogue and inclusiveness among civilizations, and let cultural exchanges transcend estrangement, mutual learning transcend clashes, and inclusiveness transcend any sense of superiority, Xi said. >>> 

Xi proposes Global Civilization Initiative

Xi proposed the Global Civilization Initiative at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting Wednesday. 

Delivering a keynote address at the meeting, Xi, also Chinese president, stressed that tolerance, coexistence, exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations play an irreplaceable role in advancing humanity's modernization process and making the garden of world civilization flourish, as the future of all countries is closely connected nowadays. >>> 

Xi stresses importance of inheritance, innovation of civilizations 

The inheritance and innovation of civilizations should be highly valued, Xi said. 

He stressed that countries need to fully harness the relevance of their histories and cultures to the present times, and push for the creative transformation and innovative development of their fine traditional cultures. >>> 

Xi calls for advocating common values of humanity

Xi called for advocating the common values of humanity on Wednesday. 

Peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom are the common aspirations of all peoples, said Xi.

He stressed that countries need to keep an open mind in appreciating the perceptions of values by different civilizations, and refrain from imposing their own values or models on others and from stoking ideological confrontation.>>> 

Xi calls for robust int'l people-to-people exchanges, cooperation

Xi called for jointly advocating robust international people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. 

Xi said countries need to explore the building of a global network for inter-civilization dialogue and cooperation, enrich the contents of exchanges and expand avenues of cooperation to promote mutual understanding and friendship among people of all countries, and jointly advance the progress of human civilizations. >>>
