(ECNS) -- A Chinese startup has delivered its first self-developed superconducting quantum measurement and control system, the ez-Q Engine 2.0, which supports quantum computers with more than 1,000 qubits, the Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center announced Tuesday.

QuantumCTek Co., a startup based in Hefei, Anhui Province, developed the ez-Q Engine 2.0 as a second-generation system building on its earlier version, which powered the Zuchongzhi 3.0—a 105-qubit superconducting quantum processor reported to outperform leading supercomputers by quadrillions of times in specific tasks.

The upgraded version will serve multiple institutions and can provide control services for more than 5,000 qubits.

According to Tang Shibiao, director of the research center, the new system has achieved a tenfold increase in integration compared with its predecessor. It features domestically designed key components, making it the smallest and most efficient product of its kind in China.

The system is a key component of quantum computers, primarily responsible for operating qubits on quantum chips, executing quantum logic gate operations and quantum algorithm calculations.
