With the rapid promotion of new energy vehicles, the charging demand for new energy cars in Shanghai has shown a rapid growth trend. According to statistics, during the National Day holiday this year, the utilization rate of charging piles on Shanghai's highways increased significantly, with a total of 20,906 charging sessions, up 45.64 percent year-on-year; the amount of charging reached 399,300 kWh, an increase of 51.34 percent year-on-year and a record high.
To ensure the charging service guarantee during the National Day holiday, State Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company carried out special inspections and completed safety hazard rectification at 61 key guarantee stations in high-speed service areas and entrances, as well as tourist attractions before the holiday. During the holiday, the charging operation and maintenance guarantee work team was on twenty-four seven duty, monitoring and solving the travel needs of new energy vehicle users in real time, and dispatched a total of 70 operation and maintenance personnel to guard the hotspot stations. They inspected 557 charging stations and 5,726 charging piles, handled 867 fault repair work orders, and repaired 867 charging equipment.
In addition, in order to effectively alleviate the charging pressure during the holiday, State Grid Shanghai Electric Power relied on the intelligent operation and maintenance management system of charging equipment, and issued precise and timely dispatching instructions in a timely manner, quickly deploying emergency charging cars, charging robots, and tidal charging piles to charging hotspot areas to meet the peak charging demand. It is worth mentioning that during this National Day holiday, the power authorities have deployed intelligent mobile charging robot equipment for the first time in charging stations at G60 Shanghai-Kunming Expressway Fengjin Service Area, G40 Shanghai-Ankang Expressway Changxing Island Service Area, and S32 Shanghai-Jiaxing Expressway Hangtou Service Area and other multiple highway service areas. Each robot has a capacity of 100 kWh, and can charge an electric vehicle to 80 percent in as little as half an hour, effectively alleviating the queuing situation during the peak charging period and providing further assurance for electric vehicle travel.
