HK, Macao travelers to mainland get travel permit extensions

(ECNS) -- China’s National Immigration Department announced on Friday that the validity of travel permits for Hong Kong and Macao residents entering the Chinese mainland will be extended starting from May 8.

The travel permits, or home return permits, with expiration dates between January 1, 2020, and December 30, 2023, will be extended to December 31, 2023, the administration said.

This measure aims to ease the surging demand for Hong Kong and Macao residents traveling to and from the Chinese mainland.
