The position of artificial intelligence engineer stood out with an average monthly salary of 24,127 yuan ($3,354), surpassing chip engineer by 1,292 yuan, according to a weekly report by Zhilian Recruitment for the third week after the Spring Festival season, Beijing Business Today reported on Sunday.

Positions related to the new quality productive forces, such as artificial intelligence, big data, automation, etc. are in high demand during the spring recruitment season this year.

The job market saw a good opening this year as employers in industries such as artificial intelligence, big data, healthcare, and tourism are recording an increasing demand for talent, said Wang Xiaoping, minister of human resources and social security, at a news conference in Beijing on Saturday.

Wang Peng, a researcher at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, believes the surge in demand for AI and big data talents is due to technological progress and industrial upgrading.

China's economy is transforming from traditional labor-intensive to technology-intensive, and new quality productive forces are rising, said Zhu Keli founding director of the China Institute of New Economy.

In addition to factors such as scientific and technological progress, policy and market also play an important role in shaping the hiring market.

The government's encouragement for emerging industries, as well as the growing market demand for innovative products and services, has provided broad space and opportunities for the development of emerging industries, Zhu said.

It is worth noting that the strong demand of talents in small and micro enterprises, as well as private firms, reflect favorable policies and investment, Xiong Bingqi, director of the 21st Century Education Research Institute, said to Beijing Business Today.

Wang predicted that the salary level of AI engineers will continue to maintain high growth in the future. The development of artificial intelligence technology also has broad prospects in different areas, such as gaming and entertaining; they may even release huge potential targeting healthcare, education and finance industries.

With the continuous advancement of technology and the expansion of application scenarios, emerging industries will continue to maintain rapid growth momentum, providing more opportunities for jobseekers.

Zhu suggested strengthening talent training in new quality productive forces. The government should invest more on emerging industries to attract more enterprises and individuals, he said, adding that the education sector should optimize curriculum sets and enhance cooperation between enterprises and the industries. He also suggested companies to participate in the process of talent training, and offer more practical opportunities for talents through internships and training.
