People reported missing after torrential rain hit Putian in SE China's Fujian

(ECNS) -- Continuous torrential rainfall triggered by Typhoon Saudel has flooded residential buildings and trapped residents in Putian, Fujian Province, with some people reported missing, local authorities said Friday.

The city is conducting emergency rescue operations to evacuate stranded residents.

According to China Weather Network, extreme downpours brought by Typhoon Saudel lashed Putian, Xiuyu and Xianyou in Fujian from Thursday through early Friday morning.
