World's largest methanol dual-fuel ore carriers named in Dalian

(ECNS) -- Two 325,000-deadweight-ton very large ore carriers (VLOCs), independently developed by Hengli Heavy Industry, were named in Dalian, Liaoning Province, on Sunday.

They are the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel ore carriers to date.

Named WINNING CREATION and WINNING DEVOTION, the two vessels are part of a new generation of ships built for Winning International Group, featuring improved environmental performance, energy efficiency, and safety.

Each vessel measures 329.9 meters in length, with a beam of 60 meters and a depth of 30.5 meters.

Designed for the deep-sea transportation of iron ore, bauxite, and other bulk commodities, the vessels can also carry liquid bulk cargo and support deck-loading operations.

According to Wang Lei, deputy general manager of Hengli Shipbuilding (Dalian) Co., Ltd., the order comprises eight vessels in total.

The second vessel was launched after just 88 days of dock construction, setting a record for the shortest dock construction period among vessels of the same type.

Compared with vessels of similar specifications, the new ships feature a lower lightship weight, greater cargo capacity, and improved speed performance.

Hengli Heavy Industry now operates the world’s largest single-site shipbuilding base with comprehensive supporting facilities.
