(ECNS) -- A magnitude-5.6 earthquake struck Dachaidan in Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Qinghai Province, at 5:36 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Qinghai Earthquake Agency.
The earthquake was strongly felt in the area, prompting the provincial earthquake agency to dispatch two vehicles and eight personnel to carry out emergency response work.
A magnitude-3.4 aftershock struck Dachaidan at 5:59 a.m., with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, one village lies within 5 kilometers of the epicenter. No township seats are located within 20 kilometers, while Dachaidan Town is among the townships within a 50-kilometer radius.
