(ECNS) -- Jiangxi registered 290,000 new urban jobs in the first half of 2026, fulfilling 71% of its annual target, the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security said Thursday.
According to a press conference, the surveyed urban unemployment rate in the province has been trending downward. It has made full use of unemployment insurance to support job creation, extending the temporary reduction in premium rates for both unemployment and work-related injury insurance. This move has eased the financial burden on insured entities by nearly 2 billion yuan (about $296 million).
In the first half of this year, Jiangxi Province issued 20.99 billion yuan in entrepreneurial guarantee loans, surpassing its annual target ahead of schedule, and these loans helped stabilize and boost employment for more than 340,000 people.
It has stepped up efforts to expand policy-backed job opportunities, creating 97,000 such posts and pooling 607,000 market-based positions within the province. Over 3,700 graduates have already applied for grassroots employment subsidies.
The human resources and social security departments in Jiangxi have pushed forward employment support for returning migrant workers, assisting 81,800 people, of whom 70,300 have successfully found jobs. Of the 1.458 million workers who have risen out of poverty, all are now employed. In addition, 34,000 people with employment difficulties have secured jobs, all 47,000 fishermen who needed to transition to alternative employment due to the fishing ban have been reemployed, and 388,000 persons with disabilities have also entered the workforce.
In addition, it has boosted re-employment for returning migrant workers, helping 81,800 people, with 70,300 placed in jobs. The province has achieved employment for 1.458 million formerly impoverished workers, 34,000 job-seekers with difficulties, all 47,000 fishermen affected by the fishing ban, and 388,000 people with disabilities.
