China does not want to fight trade and tariff wars, but will not flinch when a trade and tariff war comes, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a press briefing on Thursday after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose more tariffs on imported Chinese products.
In response to the U.S. threat of an additional 125 percent tariff on Chinese imports, China imposes additional 125-percent tariffs on all products imported from the United States starting from Saturday, according to the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council.

2. American influencer IShowSpeed ends China travel with about 2 million new Youtube subscribers
American YouTube star IShowSpeed finished his China travel this week.

3. China stays atop UNESCO geopark rankings with two new additions
Kanbula National Geopark in northwest China's Qinghai Province and Yunyang Geopark in Chongqing were designated Global Geoparks by the UNESO at the 221st session of its Executive Board in Paris, France, on Thursday, according to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
With these two newly added geoparks, China is now home to 49 Global Geoparks, remaining first in the world.

4. Chinese researchers clone first Yanbian cattle
Two Yanbian cattle cloned from somatic cells were born in Bozhou, central China's Anhui Province, a significant breakthrough in yellow cattle conservation and breeding, according to scientists from Jilin Agricultural University on Monday.
The achievement will boost the establishment of an ex-situ population in Anhui, providing a new method to the conservation of Yanbian cattle, said Lu Wenfa, vice president, Jilin Agricultural University.

5. World's first medical rescue drone debuts in China
China State Shipbuilding Corporation's Haishen Medical Technology Co has developed the world's first emergency medical rescue drone to bridge critical gaps in disaster response in extreme environments. The drone was showcased at this week's China International Medical Equipment Fair.
According to the company, the newly developed drone is equipped with advanced medical functions for respiratory support, intravenous infusion, vital sign monitoring, defibrillation and remote real-time video monitoring.

6. China discovers high-purity quartz for semiconductor industry
China has discovered a new mineral type, high-purity quartz, primarily used in high-tech industries including semiconductors and photovoltaics, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources of China on Thursday.

7. High-speed train depot starts operation in E China
Yongjin high-speed train base started operation recently in Nongbo, east China's Zhejiang Province, marking the inaugural of the first high-speed train depot across a 100-meter river in the Yangtze River Delta.
The base plans to construct 40 tracks with 24 tracks and 6 inspection tracks already completed, which can provide maintenance, sewage and cleaning services for 12 high-speed rail EMUs at the same time.

8. China's Antarctic research achieves several firsts in latest expedition
Icebreaker Xuelong arrived in Shanghai on Tuesday, marking the completion of key missions in the country's 41st Antarctic expedition. The expedition achieved multiple firsts, including launching active-source seismic exploration in the inland regions for the first time, which filled a gap in the country's high-precision seismic detection capabilities in the area.
Xuelong completed a 159-day journey covering over 27,000 nautical miles, from its departure from Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, on Nov. 1, 2024.

9. First implantation surgery of 'sobriety chip' conducted in E China
On Tuesday, a special "sobriety chip" has been successfully implanted into an alcoholic's body in East China's Anhui Province for the first time, significantly reducing the patient's craving for alcohol and offering a more effective solution for quitting drinking.
The implantation surgery was performed on a male patient surnamed Li at the Yingdong branch of Fuyang City Third People's Hospital on Tuesday, Chinanews.com reported.

10. Chinese rescue teams return after completing mission in Myanmar
The China Search and Rescue Team, the China International Search and Rescue Team, and the search and rescue team from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region left Myanmar on Wednesday after completing their mission in the earthquake-stricken areas.
Before their departure, a ceremony was held at Myanmar's Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Ministry.
