(ECNS) -- The Bayi Aerobatic Team of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force took off from a northern airport on Sunday to participate in celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and the 88th anniversary of the Royal Thai Air Force.
Team leader Li Bin said that with mid-air refueling support from a YU-20 tanker, seven J-10 aircraft flew non-stop to Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport, covering a distance exceeding 3,600 kilometers.
Since its formation more than 60 years ago, the Bayi Aerobatic Team has been equipped with various aircraft, including the J-5, J-6, J-7EB, J-7GB, J-10, and J-10C. The team has performed aerobatic displays for over 700 delegations from more than 170 countries and regions.
This mission marks the 12th overseas flight demonstration by the aerobatic team
and its first return to Thailand after 10 years. It not only reflects the deep friendship between the Chinese and Thai air forces but also strengthens cultural exchanges and friendly interactions between the two countries and their militaries.
