(ECNS) -- Chinese freestyle skier Eileen Gu announced on Tuesday that she will withdraw from the upcoming 9th Asian Winter Games to be held in northeast China’s Harbin from Feb. 7 to 14.
She posted on Weibo that she had suffered a "severe contusion" after a fall during the freeski street event at the 2025 Winter X Games in Aspen last month.
Unfortunately, she sustained another injury during recent training, leaving her no choice but to pull out of the competition.

"With a heavy heart, I have decided to withdraw from the highly anticipated Harbin Asian Winter Games," Gu said.
Gu had planned to compete in three events at this year’s Asian Winter Games: freestyle skiing halfpipe, slopestyle, and big air.
"I wish all Chinese athletes the best of luck. I will focus on my rehabilitation with my doctors, striving to return to competition as soon as possible this season," she added.
The theme of the 9th Asian Winter Games is "Dream of Winter, Love Among Asia".
