The United States International Trade Commission voted on Jan 18 that the domestic industry is materially injured or threatened by imports of wind turbines from China and Vietnam.

The move allows the US Department of Commerce to impose anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders on imports of those products from China, and an anti-dumping duty order on imports of those products from Vietnam.

In December, the Department of Commerce set anti-dumping margins ranging from 44.99 percent to 70.63 on wind towers made in China, in addition to countervailing duties ranging from 21.86 percent to 34.81 percent.

China was the second-largest exporter of wind towers to the US in 2011 with exports valued at $220 million.
