A Chinese navy ship carrying 83 Chinese and Sri Lankans evacuated from Yemen arrived at the Port of Djibouti on Tuesday. This brings an end to China's evacuation mission.
Aboard the Lin-yi frigate was the last batch of Chinese nationals and embassy staff members, plus 45 Sri Lankan citizens. The vessel left Yemen's western port of al-Hodayda, and arrived on Tuesday morning nearly 12 hours later.
Another ship, the Wei-shan- hu, carrying 9 Chinese and one Japanese evacuees, arrived at Oman's Salalah port on Tuesday. The 9 Chinese on board were two tourists and 7 medical staff. They were evacuated from southern Yemen's Socotra Island.
Altogether China has evacuated 629 of its nationals and 279 foreign citizens in four operations. All were undertaken by navy vessels patrolling the Gulf of Aden and waters around Somalia.
The Chinese Embassy in Yemen and Consulate General in Aden are now temporarily closed.
