Students across the country will read the Constitution on the morning of Dec. 4, the first national Constitution Day, according to a government circular.

Headmasters have been asked to organize a study session of the Constitution for teachers or give a lecture to students on the day, according to the circular issued by the Ministry of Education.

China's top legislature decided this month to designate Dec. 4 as national Constitution Day amid efforts to enhance the document's implementation and advance the rule of law.

Nationwide activities to promote the Constitution will be held on the day, according to the decision.

Education authorities will establish a long-term plan to teach and promote the Constitution among students.

In places where conditions allow, the document will become part of examinations for entrance to junior schools, according to the circular. For this purpose, textbooks on Constitutions will be written for primary and high schools.
