A man from Liaocheng, Shandong province entered a car dealership with five tons of coins to buy a new set of wheels, only to whip out a bank card when he got tired of waiting for employees to count them.

A dealership employee said the man wished to purchase a 100,000 yuan ($16,057) vehicle with bags of 1-yuan ($0.16) coins he had brought in his car, local media reported on Monday.

"He supposedly had five tons in there," said the employee, "but only gave us 50,000 yuan because he was going to buy more cars at other dealers."

Every available employee spent the morning counting coins, until the buyer started getting impatient.

"He was watching movies and napping while we counted," said the employee, "He got tired of waiting so he told us to stop counting and he would just pay the rest with a bank card."

The dealership still is faced with the daunting task of depositing all the coins, which they do in 2,000-yuan increments each day.
