Reading season begins

The opening ceremony of Beijing's fourth reading season took place on April 19 at Beijing Technology and Business University. The reading season will last for three months, and various activities promoting reading will be held in Beijing, qianlong.com reported.

In 2014, the Beijing reading season has been upgraded to a national brand and has been promoted nationwide. After the opening ceremony, many other provinces such as Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Sichuan, Hubei and Heilongjiang will also start the reading season activities before April 23. Last year, 996 families nationwide were honored as "literary families" by the State General Administration of Press and Publication, Radio and Television; among them, 33 representative families attended the opening ceremony and met governmental officials.
