The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative has opened up new opportunities for trade, investment and economic growth in all countries connected to it, Kyrgyzstan's Ambassador-at-Large Kanayim Baktygulova said Thursday.[Special coverage]

China is a good neighbor, a reliable partner and a good friend of Kyrgyzstan, Baktygulova noted at a round table meeting focusing on the results of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in Beijing on May 14-15.

"The ideas proposed by the Chinese side are in the trend of modern development, and are extremely necessary and highly demanded," she told the meeting, which gathered Kyrgyz officials, experts, and representatives of diplomatic missions.

"That's why we not only support this mega-project, but also are ready to participate actively in its implementation together with Chinese and other partners," said Baktygulova, also a former Kyrgyz ambassador to China.

During the meeting, Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Xiao Qinghua said that China will continue to provide assistance to Kyrgyzstan to help carry out specific projects that would boost the economy.

"I am sure that our countries will achieve fruitful results combining development policies and strategies, building transport corridors, and through cooperation and development projects for the benefit of our peoples," he said.
