China's helpful reiteration at this G20 Summit of the case for openness in the management of the global economy needs to be balanced by an equally firm commitment to an inclusive global order. Excessive openness is as much of a threat as excessive closure for the global economy. A better balance between openness and inclusiveness needs to be struck over the next few years and more states and peoples need to be reassured that they can cope with and benefit from a broadly open global order.
