China's development cannot be isolated from the world's development, while the world's stability and prosperity is also inseparable from China, a Lao official told Xinhua in an exclusive interview.

Khemmani Pholsena, vice president of the Lao-China Joint Cooperation Commission and Lao minister of industry and commerce, made the remark in a recent interview with Xinhua in the Lao capital of Vientiane.

After more than 30 years of reform and opening up, China has witnessed political stability and impressive progress in the economic and technological fronts, which has greatly benefited its people, she noted.

Meanwhile, she said China's international status and influence is continuing to grow. "As the world's biggest developing country and a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, it is a backbone in maintaining international peace and promoting joint development in the world."

China's international role has been highlighted especially in the wake of the global financial crisis, when it made huge contributions to the recovery of the world economy, she said.

Major regional and international issues today cannot be solved without China's participation, she added.

On the bilateral front, the Lao official said the country has seen more visitors from China as living standards of the people there improve.

"More and more Chinese people are traveling overseas on business or private trips. Laos, for one, has welcomed an increasing number of Chinese people in recent years," Pholsena said. "This cannot be realized without the leadership of the Communist Party of China, which brings benefits and happiness to Chinese people from all walks of life."

"I am willing to further strengthen Laos-China relations on the basis of traditional bilateral cooperation, not only in economy and trade, but also in culture," she told Xinhua.

On the occasion of China's 65th National Day, which falls on Oct. 1, the minister congratulated China on behalf of her ministry and herself.

She also expressed her wish that the friendship and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two parties, two nations and two peoples will last forever and gain more fruitful achievements.
