Chinese premier's visit to Kenya is crucial for development of the east Africa region, President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Saturday.  [Special coverage]

President Kenyatta, who held a talk with the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Liu Xianfa in Nairobi, said that Premier Li Keqiang's visit is a game charger in terms of boosting bilateral relations and development of the region.

The Chinese ambassador briefed President Kenyatta on the forthcoming visit of the Chinese premier who will also visit Ethiopia, Angola and Nigeria.

During the meeting, President Kenyatta said this region requires a strong partner who will not only support it in economic ventures but also in peace settlement.

China has intensified investments in Kenya with bilateral trade increasing to 3.27 billion US dollars in 2013, according to statistics from the Chinese Embassy in Kenya. China also has become Kenya's biggest foreign direct investments source.
