China-Germany relations will head for an even brighter future no matter who wins Germany's general election scheduled for Sunday.

Currently, bilateral ties have been in its best shape ever in history. The two sides negotiated a reasonable settlement for a dispute over exports of Chinese-made solar panels to the EU this summer, in which Germany played a positive role.

Fruitful economic cooperation has set a shining example of China-Europe interaction.

With Germany being China's largest trading parter in Europe and China being Germany's in the Asia-Pacific region, two-way trade reached an unprecedented high level of 161.13 billion U.S. dollars in 2012, accounting for 29.5 percent of China-EU trade.

China's rapid stride toward industrialization, informatization, urbanization and agricultural modernization, together with its unswerving commitment to opening-up, offers German enterprises golden opportunities and will thus further strengthen bilateral economic ties.

Frequent exchanges of high-level visits have deepened mutual political trust, unlocked their enormous potential for economic cooperation and gathered great momentum for the development of the China-Germany partnership.

The China-Germany relationship has also been cemented by intergovernmental consultation mechanism, which covers dozens of dialogue and communication channels, and represents the highest level of its kind between China and the West.

During his visit to Germany in May, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and his German counterpart Angela Merkel mapped out a future course for bilateral cooperation and reached important consensus on deepening the strategic partnership.

With good faith, mutual trust and common objectives, China and Germany will surely be able to further promote their bilateral relationship and the relationship between China and the EU at large.

The past decade has seen strengthened economic ties as well as a strong working relationship and personal friendship fostered between the leaders of the two countries.

On this basis, there are plenty of reasons to believe the relations between the two highly complementary economies will remain on the fast track for comprehensive progress and, in turn, lift China-Germany cooperation to a higher level.
