China, S Korea look to boost ties

China’s vice foreign minister Zhang Zhijun has met South Korean president-elect Park Geun-hye, in Seoul.

China's vice foreign minister Zhang Zhijun has met South Korean president-elect Park Geun-hye, in Seoul.

Zhang is in South Korea for a three-day visit. During the meeting, he delivered a congratulatory letter from General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping. Xi expressed hope for further progress in bilateral relations between the two countries, in the wake of Park's election victory.

Park Geun-hye is set to replace Lee Myung-bak as president next month. Park says she hopes to expand both high-level and civilian exchanges between Seoul and Beijing, and further strengthen the friendly ties.
