Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Wednesday held official talks with Danish counterpart Villy Sovndal and pledged to boost cooperation between the two countries.

During their meeting, Yang hailed the current bilateral ties, highlighting the pragmatic cooperation between the sides in trade and economy, environmental protection, agriculture, technology and education.

"The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Danish side to advance bilateral ties, on the basis of mutual respect, equality and reciprocity, in a sustained and in-depth way," Yang said.

Sovndal said Denmark looks forward to more political interactions and cultural and people-to-people exchanges with China, as well as closer cooperation in two-way investment, sustainable development, renewable energy, technological innovation and medical care for the old to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.

Li Jianguo, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, also met with the visiting Danish foreign minister on Wednesday.

Sovndal is making an official visit to China from Tuesday to Thursday at Yang's invitation.
