Picture shows Neanderthal cave-paintings inside the Andalusian cave of Ardales, March 1, 2018. The world's oldest known cave paintings were made by Neanderthals, not modern humans, suggesting our extinct cousins were far from being uncultured brutes. The cave-paintings found in three caves in Spain, one of them in Ardales, were created between 43000 and 65000 years ago, 20000 years before modern humans arrived in Europe. The walls of the La Pasiega, Maltravieso, and Ardales caves feature a rudimentary hand stencil and a drawing of a ladder, as well as other markings. (Photo/Agencies)
