An aerial view of Deng Family Enclosed Houses in Fenyi County, East China’s Jiangxi Province, May 9, 2017. Built about 300 years ago, the circular complex looks like a turtle shell-shaped fortress and includes many rooms that are made of stone and wood to serve different purposes include living and praying. Rooms are interconnected and thought to facilitate the defense against invasion in the past. The whole complex took 14 years to complete in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and today is a tourist attraction due to its distinctive architectural style and cultural integration.
