The remains of the old city wall in Jinan, capital of East China’s Shandong Province reappear after unauthorized buildings in front of it are destroyed, March 15, 2017. Jinan had massive, imposing city walls about 10.66 meters high and 16.67 meters wide during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), but they were mostly destroyed in 1950 to allow space to build a ring road, according to Li Ming, the director of the Archaeological Institute of Jinan City. The city plans to make the newly found 14-meter-long stretch of city wall the centerpiece of a cultural attraction. (Photo/CFP)
