Imitation of the crown of Empress Xiao from the Sui Dynasty (581-618) is on display in Xi’an City, the capital of Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. Archeologists from Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics Protection and Yangzhou City Institute of Archaeology announced they have finished studying and preserving the crown’s materials, structure and manufacturing techniques, which will add to research into head-dressing trends in the Sui and Tang (618-907) Dynasties. The studies also found that cotton was produced in southern areas. (Photo: China News Service/Tian Jin)
