Filmed in 60 countries to capture the real stories of 2,020 people in 63 languages, the film showcases the happiness, pain, stress and fears of people-asylum seekers in Calais, workers in Bangladesh, farmers in Mali and even death-row inmates in the United States. Nearly 6,300 viewers commented on the movie on Douban.com, China's most popular movie-review site, which resulted in it getting a score of 8.8 of 10. Human also gained recognition in Chinese film circles by beating nearly 1,500 contenders to win the best feature award in the documentary section of the 2016 Beijing International Film Festival in April.
