Remains of a 100 million-year-old seabed are discovered in an area 18 kilometers southwest of the water outlet of Kanas Lake in Altay, Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. The Kanas Lake administration committee said in a press conference that the remains of the seabed were discovered in a recent scientific investigation. The discovery is important to the study of the Quaternary Glacier as well as the forming and evolution of Altay mountains. (Photo: China News Service/Lei Dongxiang)
