Frontier soldiers build post out of ice blocks(1/7)

A frontier soldier builds a border post with ice blocks in temperatures of minus 30C in Heihe, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, Jan 22, 2015. The tradition of building ice post dated back to the 1970s when ice blocks were simply piled up to keep out the wind and the cold. In recent years, with China’s rapid economic development, it is not necessary to build ice post but soldiers keep the tradition alive as a way of training and team building.
