In Nyingchi, you can enjoy the view of Tibet's four seasons all at once. Down in the valley, when the willows start budding, the withered grass on the river bank still preserves the autumn yellow. While the peach flowers are still in full bloom at the mountain foot, up on the mountains, the snow has yet to start melting. [Photo: CRIENLGISH.com/ Xia Jixuan]

The word "Nyingchi" means "the sun's throne" in Tibetan. Nyingchi is located in the southeastern part of China's Tibet Autonomous Region, sided by the Himalaya range, the Nyainqentanglha range, and the Hengduan Mountains. Nyingchi is also known as Tibet's Switzerland, and Tibet's Jiangnan (regions south of the Yangtze River).

It is positioned at the lower range of the Yarlung Tsangpo River in eastern Tibet, with an average altitude of about 3,000 meters, while the lowest altitude is only 900 meters. Here, you can enjoy the view of Tibet's four seasons all at once. Down in the valley, when the willows start budding, the withered grass on the river bank still preserves the autumn yellow. While the peach flowers are still in full bloom at the mountain foot, up on the mountains, the snow has yet to start melting.
