Wanlong Ski Resort: Zhangjiakou, Hebei

 

Recommended reason: the first open ski resort in China

 

Located at Honghualiang, 12 kilometers east of Chongli County in Zhangjiakou City, China's Hebei Province, the Wanlong Ski Resort is the first open ski resort in China. Covering an area of 30 square kilometers, the highest elevation in the resort is 2110.3 meters, with trail vertical drop of 550 meters. The resort is 249 kilometers from Beijing, and 60 kilometers from Zhangjiakou.

 

Travel tips:

 

Entrance fee: Varied depending on the different period of the snow season. Middle period: 280 yuan/two hours, and 430/two hours with ski equipment.

 

Transportation: It takes three hours to drive from Beijing to Wanlong Resort if there is no traffic jam, no foggy day or no congestion due to heavy snow.

 

There are dozens of direct or indirect trains going between Beijing and Zhangjiakou.

 

Travelers can also take buses from Beijing to Zhangjiakou.
