22-year-old Su Yijun and his team members completed a virtual wonder by setting over 100 million in-game blocks or recreate the Forbidden City in Minecraft, a popular video game that lets you build things out of virtual bricks. Everything in the Forbidden City is as authentic as possible, from the architecture to the furnishings. The virtual project had broken ground with the help of volunteers back in 2013, but when Su joined the group in 2014, they decided to start again from scratch. Su eventually became the project’s chief organizer, researching traditional Chinese architecture. Su said he was impressed by the grandness of the Forbidden City since childhood. The massive project is painstaking and time-consuming, but all members worked on it voluntarily. (Photo provided by Su)
