A primary school in Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, awarded live carp to more than 500 students who got good grades at the final exam on Friday, encouraging relocated students to study hard and make progress.
In Chinese legend, a carp turns into a dragon after jumping over a mountain across the Yellow River. The story is often used to encourage children from deprived families to climb social ladders by studying hard.
Students also performed Dong folk songs, football, and dance.
In recent years, Sanjiang has made great efforts to deepen the construction of the education community, actively carried out education assistance, gathered efforts to improve teaching quality and fully promoted the high-quality development of education.
