World's largest container ship starts trial voyage

OOCL Valencia, the world's largest container ship, departed from Nantong, east China's Jiangsu Province, and started its trial voyage on Tuesday, marking the first container ship of its kind completed in China in 2024.　

The container ship, self-developed by a Nantong-based ship company, is capable of carrying up to 24,188 twenty-foot container boxes　with a total length of 399.99 meters and a width of 61.3 meters.　

A container ship named OOCL SPAIN, the first ship of its kind built by the shipping company, was delivered on March 15, 2023, in Zhejiang Province.
