Next to a high-voltage power line in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, a tree barrier several hundred meters away was removed by grid operation and maintenance workers with a fifth-generation laser obstacle remover on Thursday. The Guangdong Dongguan Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid independently developed the instrument.
Instead of personnel climbing trees or using cranes for manual pruning, it can save 80 percent of the working time of tree-clearing operations, reduce 70 percent of the labor cost, avoid personal risks, and significantly improve tree-clearing efficiency.
According to reports, Dongguan Power Supply Bureau developed the fifth generation of laser obstacle remover based on the mature use of the previous four generations. The instrument uses fiber laser as a light source, with an advanced dynamic focusing system and higher photoelectric conversion efficiency, long-distance cutting trees quickly and in a short time. After practice, it takes 5 to 20 minutes to clear the tree barrier with a diameter of 5 to 20 cm.
