A 6.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Jishishan County in northwest China's Gansu Province late Monday evening, causing over 100 deaths in Gansu and neighboring Qinghai Province.
The earthquake has caused damages on houses, roads and other infrastructures. Local people were making a fire by the road to warm themselves, according to a CNS reporter in Dahejia Town, Jishishan County, Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province.
The State Council has sent a working group to the stricken regions to help guide relief work. Gansu and Qinghai provinces have organized relief support with immediate allocation of relief supplies such as camps and folding beds to the affected areas.
